Visit Fátima Sanctuary - Time to Attend Mass

With the Tour Leaving Lisbon and upon arrival in Fátima, we begin the tour of the religious items factory where you can purchase your rosary to be blessed at the sanctuary.

    /br>
Place where Our Lady appeared to the shepherd children in 1917 to convey 3 messages to them: The End of the First World War, the fall of Communism and the attack against Pope John Paul II.

Santuartio Fátima is one of the most important Marian shrines belonging to the Catholic Church in the world and one of the main international destinations for religious tourism, receiving around six million visitors per year. It was visited by Popes Paul VI (1967), John Paul II (1982, 1991 and 2000), Benedict XVI (2010) and Francis (2017). The annual pilgrimages are celebrated on the 13th, from May to October.

    Tour Fatima
The places of faith. The stories that are told about the apparitions and the three little shepherds are present in several places.

The Sanctuary of Fátima, where thousands of pilgrims arrive every year, is one of the most important Marian shrines in the world and, over time, has been expanded to meet the needs of those who visit it. When visiting it, we can find monuments, places of prayer and symbolic references everywhere.

    Visitar Mosteiro da Batalha

After attending the Mass in Fatima the tour continues to the city of BATALHA where we will visit the BATALHA MONASTERY.

Unmissable attraction in Portugal. Classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, the Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória, also known as Monastery of Batalha, is, indisputably, one of the most beautiful works of Portuguese and European architecture. Visiting the Batalha Monastery is immersing yourself in a part of Portugal’s history. The monastery is a building of indescribable beauty. If you've never thought about visiting a monument that hasn't been finished, get ready to change your mind when your eyes fall on the Balha Monastery.

Considered one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is an architectural jewel whose magnificent ensemble takes no less than half a million tourists a year to the heart of the country. Its construction spanned the reign of at least seven Portuguese monarchs, becoming the final resting place of some of them. D. João I, D. Afonso V, D. João II and D. Duarte are buried there, all members of the Avis Dynasty, of which the monastery became the greatest symbol.

    Tour Fatima
The works lasted for more than 150 years, through several construction phases.

This duration justifies the existence, in its artistic proposals, of Gothic (predominant) Manueline solutions and a brief Renaissance note. Several additions were introduced into the initial project, resulting in a vast monastic ensemble that currently features a church, two cloisters with attached dependencies and two royal pantheons, the Founder's Chapel and the Imperfect Chapels.

    D. João I donated it to the order of S. Domingos, a donation to which the good offices of Doctor João das Regras, chancellor of the kingdom, and Frei Lourenço Lampreia, confessor of the monarch, were not unrelated.

    Visit Nazareth

Visit to NAZARÉ is also part of the Excursion to Fátima. Village with a spectacular beach, white fishermen's houses and huge cliffs overlooking an intense blue sea, which make this fishing village a top tourist destination. Visit to the cliff, site of the famous legend of Nazaré.

Hawaiian surfer Garrett McNamara gave him worldwide visibility when, in 2011, he made the biggest wave in the world on a sand bottom, measuring around 30 meters, in Praia do Norte, winning the Billabong XXL Global BigWave Awards and breaking a record from the Guinness Book.

Like them, surfers from all over the world visit Nazaré every year to venture into the sea, especially during winter.

Between November and March, we wait patiently for the biggest waves to reveal themselves, during a long stage of the world giant wave championship, the Nazaré Tow Surfing Challenge.

On the beach, sunbathing is also enjoyed and there is an excellent audience to appreciate the exploits of these young people.

    Tour Fatima
Known for its giant waves that can reach more than 30 meters in height, small Nazaré, in Portugal, attracts the most extreme surfers in the world.

But the city also has a lot to offer more relaxed travelers, who just want to go to the beach, taste the rich cuisine and get in touch with the ancient and authentic customs of the region. Sítio da Nazaré The city's main square is full of life. There, tourists mingle with locals selling traditional treats and souvenirs, always wearing the region's typical clothing, such as the women's seven skirts. It's worth going to the Church of Nossa Senhora de Nazaré, which is right on the square.

    Visit Vila Óbidos

Departure to ÓBIDOS, last stage of the Tour to Fátima.

The medieval village of Óbidos is one of the most picturesque and best preserved in Portugal. Already occupied before the Romans arrived in the Iberian Peninsula, the town became more prosperous from the moment it was chosen by the royal family.

Since King D. Dinis offered it to his wife D. Isabel, in the 19th century. XIII, it belonged to the House of Queens who, throughout the various dynasties, benefited and enriched it.

Throughout the year, a program of events brings some excitement to this small town, but without a doubt the most popular are the International Chocolate Festival, the Medieval Market and Christmas, when the town is decorated with motifs alluding to the season.

Also worth mentioning are the Baroque Classical Music and Harpsichord Seasons and the Opera Festival, which give Óbidos a special atmosphere, with open-air shows on hot summer nights.

    Tour Fatima
Óbidosis the best example of a walled Portuguese city, and is one of the best tourist destinations in the Lisbon region. Historically, Óbidos was presented to the Queen of Portugal on her wedding day, a tradition that began with Queen Urraca of Castile in 1214 and continued until the 19th century.

This royal patronage left a lasting legacy of pride within the city, and today it has become one of the most characteristic cities in Portugal. For visitors, Óbidos is a charming city to explore; there are narrow streets, traditional painted houses and an imposing medieval castle.

Óbidos may be small, but there is no better example of a traditional Portuguese town than Óbidos.

After a full day on this tour to Fátima, Nazaré and Óbidos we return to Lisbon
